Probe sought into death of health officer

Mysuru, August 21:- There is a widespread uproar over the death of Nanjangud taluk’s additional health officer Dr S R Nagendra. There is a strong opinion that Dr Nagendra committed suicide because of harassment by his superiors. Karnataka Labourers’ Union (KLU) has urged the state government to order an impartial probe into the suicide of the doctor and unravel the reasons behind it. KLU asked the authorities to create a congenial atmosphere for the employees to work peacefully.

They also demanded Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to announce Rs 50 lakh as compensation to the family of the deceased. On his part, Yediyurappa has spoken to Dr Nagendra’s family members and expressed his condolences.

The chief minister, sources said, has asked corona warriors to work without any pressure. He told them that the state government is with them and they were also advised to talk to their superiors if there is any problem. (MR/KS)
