Mysuru, December 23:- “Vegetables and crops grown by the farmers should be delivered directly to the consumers. Bharatanatya Krishika Samaja needs to take this initiative so that farmers will get rewarded for their hard work,” said Dr Muguru Madhu Dixit Guruji of Mayakara Gurukula.
He was speaking at the Farmers’ Day event held at Rotary Auditorium on JLB Road on Saturday, organised by Bharatiya Krishika Samaja.
“We should be thankful to farmers. Discussions go on in media whether to invite Sunny Leone or not for New Year’s event, which is not our culture. We book cinema tickets a week prior to its release. But nobody speaks about observing Farmers’ Day. Farmers should achieve more with their produce. We should think of providing the yield to consumers at homes without any middlemen. Farmers’ Day should not be limited for a single day. We should make farmers understand that the people stand by them,” he added.
Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) commissioner Kantharaju, Raghuram Vajapayee, Geetha Ganesh, Kasthuri Chandru, Shantha Mahadevaprasad and others were present.
