Prof K Ramdas’ contribution for democracy recalled

Recalling the contributions of Prof K Ramdas in instilling the spirit of democracy among the masses, is immense, seer Sri Veerabhadra Channamalla Swamiji of Nidumamidi Mahasamsthana and Manava Dharmapeetha said that Prof K Ramdas fought like a brave soldier and relentlessly strived for the cause of democracy.

The seer was speaking after inaugurating a seminar, book release and Lekhana award presentation programme in memory of Prof K Ramdas organised by Desiranga cultural organisation at Sriranga on Sunday.

He said that Prof Ramdas was a rationalist and a creative thinker who would appreciate, criticise and raise voice against everything within the Indian society. He demonstrated how a struggle should be led in the society. He was as a rational asset to the country, the seer remarked.

Further he urged the organisers to institute a “Vaicharika Prashasthi” in his name and donated a sum of Rs 25,000 for its initiation.

“When we see the present political system, democracy just means vote and money. The feudal mind-set is still prevalent among our political leaders and this has led to violent situations in the nation, the Swamiji added.

Expressing disappointment over the “glorification of royal wedding” he opined that the wedding should have been left as a family affair.

Progressive thinker G K Govindarao presided over the programme. Thinker D S Nagabhushan, Eminent writer Aravind Malagatthi, Corporator K V Mallesh and others were present.
