Prof ​ ​Khaiser Nikam feted on ‘Librarians Day’

Department of Public Library, Government of Karnataka, which is celebrating its Centenary Year oraganised ‘Librarians Day’ and “The Best Librarian Award” Ceremony on the occasion of 124 birthday of Padmasri Dr S R Ranganathan at Convention Centre in Bengaluru, recently.

Prof Khaiser Nikam, one of the awardees this year, who has served nearly four decades in teaching library subjects at University of Mysore, was recognised for her stellar contributions to research and teaching in librarianship. She has served as founder HoD of Department. of LIS, Karnataka State Women’s University,Vijayapura. She has been Head of the Department three terms at University of Mysore.

She is currently serving as editor/member of editorial board in leading journals in library science. She is also member of many professional associations, committees and advisory bodies. She has to her credit 250 research papers, 8 books, 11 PhDs awarded, five MPhil guided and 45 MLISc dissertations. She is visited public libraries at Singapore, Russia and Jaffna. Her research interest is User Studies, Marketing of Libraries, Corporate Librarianship, and Digital Information Management.
