Prof Rangappa attends court hearing on defamation case against Go Madhusudana

Mysuru, November 29:- President of the Indian Science Congress and former vice-chancellor of University of Mysore, Prof K S Rangappa attended a court hearing on the defamation case filed by him against former MLC and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Go Madhusudana on Wednesday.

When Prof Rangappa was the vice-chancellor, Madhusudana had made allegations against him at a press meet about corruption in the varsity. The statements made against Prof Rangappa were carried in all newspapers. Questioning this, Prof Rangappa had filed a defamation case against Madhusudana in 2016.

He alleged that Madhusudana had made baseless allegations and has harmed his reputation through such press meets. He also alleged that Madhusudana made such allegations with an intention to dent his reputation in the academic field.

Prof Rangappa had submitted a complaint copy of 12 pages to the court. He had asked Madhusudana to apologise unconditionally and get it printed in newspapers and give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh.

The Additional Senior Civil Judge took up the hearing of the case on Wednesday.

Senior advocate Annaiah represented Prof Rangappa and G K Sheshagiri Rao represented Madhusudana. (MR/KS)
