Programme on ‘Developing business excellence’ for overseas students inaugurated at St Philomena’s PG Centre in Mysuru

​Prime News, International and National, Karnataka, Education, Business, Culture, Mysuru, August 16:- SDMIMD and St Philomena’s ​​Postgraduate Centre, Mysuru, jointly launched a ‘Programme on Developing Business Excellence (DBE) –​ with a sense of ​s​ocial ​r​esponsibility’ for overseas students to understand India’s​ ​business environment, consumer behavio​u​r, cultural background and corporate​ ​environment.

The program​me​ was held to sensiti​s​e student​s​ from overseas who visit India for​ ​educational purposes about the ethics and social relevance of the Indian business​ ​environment. The program​me​ was inaugurated for the first batch of 21 foreign​ ​national students at ​the Postgraduate Centre of ​St Philomena’s College (Autonomous)​ at Bannimantap in the city on Saturday (August 14).
 
Director of SDMIMD N​ ​R Parasuraman​,who ​inaugurated the program​me,​ ​said​ “The 20-hour program​me​ aims at providing an overall exposure to diverse aspects of Indian business​ ​environment. The program​me​ introduces culture, ethics, leadership, consumer​ ​behavio​u​r, social responsibility, corporate culture, and Indian family business. The​ ​course content is framed and offered by highly accomplished faculty members in​ ​the respective area.​”​

Speaking on the occasion​,​ Prof Othber​t​ Pinto, Director, St Philomena’s ​​PG Centre​,​ said ​”​It is a much-needed initiative by both SDMIMD and St Philomena’s PG Centre to​ ​sensiti​s​e the foreign students about India and its rich culture. Students will be​ ​receiving the ​d​egrees in their domain​,​ but it’s our responsibility to enhance their
knowledge about India and its inclusiveness in different dimensions​.​”

Ronald Prakash Cutinha, Head of IQAC ​and Chief Librarian, St Philomena’s​ PG Centre said ​”​the​ ​initiative by SDMIMD and St Philomena’s is to present our culture and values,​ ​with that spirit the program​me​ will help the foreign students know about India apart​ ​from the prescribed education​.​”


St Philomena’s College (Autonomous)Rector/Manager Rev Fr Dr Bernard Prakash Barnis; Principal Alphonsus​ ​D’Souza; faculty members, students and staff of St Philomena’s College and faculty​ ​​and staff members of SDMIMD, Mys​uru, participated in the virtual​ ​event.
Dr Sunil M​ ​V​, Head – Academic Administration, SDMIMD​,​ Mys​uru and​ ​Rekha Ganapathy, Coordinator of the ​program​me, were present.(NGB)​
