Progressive fronts protest atrocities against Dalits

Various progressive and leftist associations staged a protest in opposition to atrocities against Dalits in the country, blaming the BJP government.

They were highlighting the recent incident in Una taluk of Gir Somnath district where a person and his family members were flogged by a group for skinning a dead cow and other incidents where Dalits are targeted.

Speaking to media persons, member of CPI C Raju said, “There has been constant discrimination and atrocities faced by Dalits across the country after the BJP came to power. The recent attack on Dalit family, remark on Mayawati by BJP’s Dayashankar Singh and attack on Ambedkar Sadhana in Mumbai shows how there’s been a prejudice against Dalits in the country. These provoking incidents affect the peace in the country and those involved in creating such situations must be arrested”. CPI members K Basavaraju, Jaganath, PUCI president Dr Rathi Rao, Bettaiah Kote, Uma Devi and others were present.
