DSS stages protest; condemns increase in prices of fuel, essential commodities

Mysuru, July 2:- Dalita Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here on Thursday (July 2), condemning the central government over increase in the prices of petrol, diesel and essential commodities.

“The earlier governments provided petrol at Rs 72.97 per litre and diesel at Rs 55 when crude oil was 90 dollars per barrel. Now, the crude oil price has reduced to 41.19 dollar per barrel. But the petrol price is at Rs 82.83 and diesel price is at Rs 76.37. According to the international fuel price, petrol should be provided at Rs 30 per litre and diesel at Rs 25 per litre. But the central government is helping factory owners and capitalists by increasing fuel prices,” alleged the protesters.
