Protest condemning irregularities at UoM

Mysuru, October 4:- The association of progressive thinkers and Dalita Sangharsha Samithi has said that they would stage an indefinite protest from Thursday against irregularities at the University of Mysore.

“It is a violation of human rights to use police power to control the protesting students. Not appointing a permanent vice-chancellor has led to corruption in the university,” said Prof K S Bhagavan at a press meet here on Wednesday.

“FIR should be registered against the illegal appointment of employees. A permanent vice-chancellor should be appointed to the university. FIR registered against the students should be withdrawn. FIR should be registered against former V-C Prof K S Rangappa and registrar Prof R Rajanna,” said K C Puttasiddashetty.

“There has been a lot of corruption in the university. Rights of Dalits have been snatched away officials and powerful people. Goons are governing the university,” said state president of backward communities association, K S Shivaram.

He urged ministers G T Devegowda, Sa Ra Mahesh and chief minister H D Kumaraswamy to take action and warned of taking their protest to the next level.

Former Mayor Purushotham, Vasanth and others were present. (MR/KMR).
