Mysuru, November 15:- Mysuru District Nayaka Yuvakara Sangha staged a protest on Thursday, condemning the arrest of journalist Santosh Thammaiah.
The journalist from Madikeri was arrested on November 10 for allegedly making an inflammatory speech against Tipu Sultan, the erstwhile ruler of Mysuru. Subsequently, Thammaiah was released on bail.
The protesters, who had gathered near the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, urged the government to serve justice to Thammaiah. Curbing freedom of expression is against the Constitution, the protesters felt and asked Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar to intervene and consider the issue seriously. (MR/KS)
