JD(S) ST Wing stages protest in Hunsur; condemns suspension of pourakarmikas

Mysuru, August 8:- The members of Janata Dal (Secular) ST Wing of Hunsur staged a protest on Wednesday, condemning suspension of 30 pourakarmika women who have been working for the last 10 years.

District vice-president of JD(S) ST Wing Puttaraju condemned the officials who should have responded to the problems of the pourakarmikas instead of suspending them. He warned of sterner protest if they are not appointed again.

The pourakarmika women said that their livelihood is affected as the city municipal council has suspended them without giving any prior intimation.

City council president M Shivakumar said that he had no information regarding the suspension and promised to re-appointment them after discussing with the commissioner of the city council. He said that there is no way to sideline pourakarmikas.

City council former president Lakshman, Gauramma, Parvathi, Radha, Padma, Gangamma, Kalamani, Kavita, Nagamma and others were present. (MR/KS).
