Sarvajananga Hitharakshana Vedike activists on Thursday staged a protest urging the authorities to make Kannada as mother tongue and English as the second language, at Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Mysuru.
The protesters displayed their anguish by chanting the slogans against government for not taking action even after many Kannada government schools are shutting down. “Education is the fundamental right of every child, but from past 2-3 years about 218 government schools have shut down. There is a need to start kindergarten at the government schools on the lines of private schools. Kannada should be made first language and English second language.” The protesters also asked the government to establish schools on par with Navodaya schools in Grama Panchayath and ward level.
Venugopal, state president, Sarvajananga Hitharakshana Vedike and other members of the organisation were present.
