Protest seeking individual possession certificate

Mysuru, January 19:- Union of tribal people is staging an indefinite strike in front of taluk panchayat office on Thursday, demanding individual possession certificate for the residents of various hadis of Periyapattana taluk.

“Tribal communities living in various hadis have been requesting for their rights since 2006. We have requested all the concerned officials of the village panchayat, taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat. Though community possession certificate has been given to 16 hadis, individual possession certificate has not been issued. We are staging this indefinite strike for this,” said the leader of Abbalati hadi and village panchayat member, Janakamma.

“We had earlier taken back our protests over the promises made by public representatives and officials. We will not back off until we get the possession certificates. We will cook here and sleep here,” she added.

Tahsildar Kunji Mohammed, EO DC Shruti, social welfare officer Ramegowda, RFO Rathna Kumar and others visited the protest spot to console the protesters but didn’t succeed.

Mymul director Prasanna visited the spot and assured of solving the problem by discussing with MLA and bringing it to the notice of the government. The protesters who didn’t agree to his offer continued their protest. (MR/KS).
