Protest staged opposing open street festival on Devaraj Urs road

Mysuru, December 26:-Residents of Devaraja Mohalla in the city staged a protest on Tuesday, opposing the conduct of Open Street Festival on the Devaraj Urs road.

The agitators gathered near Devaraj Urs junction in the city and demanded that the district administration must stop issuing permission for conducting Open Street Festival on the busy Devaraj Urs road.

The protestors said, “Conducting Open Street Festival on the busy Devaraj Urs road is creating nuisance for the residents in the vicinity and Devaraja Mohalla. The loud noise and vehicular  movement is disturbing us and the district administration must take necessary steps in ensuring peaceful environment for the residents in the region.”

Gururaj Shetty, Pramod Gowda, Manjunath, Kumar, Nitin, Shivu, Raju, Prakash, Somu and others were present at the protest.

The first open street festival in the city was organised by the department of tourism as part of international tourism day during the Mysuru Dasara. Now for the second time, the district administration, in association with the tourism department, is organizing the Open Street Festival as part of the Mysuru Winter Festival which is expected to have more footfalls. –(KS,KK)
