Protest takes a violent turn; police station set afire

After almost seven days of protest for the Jallikattu sport, at Marina beach in Chennai, protesters burnt down the Ice House police station in Chennai after they were being forcefully evicted from Marina Beach on Monday morning.

The protesters are said to have set vehicles on fire and Ice House police station following a clash with police officers at the Marina Beach. Meanwhile, the AIADMK government is set to move a bill to replace the ordinance for the conduct of the bull taming sport in the Tamil Nadu assembly.

Earlier, protesters were upset with the state police for having used force during the eviction and this is said to have enraged the agitators.
