Protest planned to condemn merger of govt schools

Mysuru, August 20:- “Student Islamic Organisation of India is staging a protest on August 21 condemning the decision of the state government to merge government schools giving qualitative education as a reason,” said the secretary of the association Riaz Koppala here on Saturday.

“The state government is wasting time in the name of strengthening the schools. The government has failed to provide quality education. It is an effort to help private schools and nothing else,” he added.

“The plan to merge 958 government schools is an attempt to deprive poor children of education. Already 1.2 lakh students have joined private schools under RTE. It is an effort to close government schools step by step,” he alleged.

He said that the protest would be staged in front of the office of the Commissioner of Education Department on Nrupathunga road in Bengaluru on August 21 (Tuesday).
