Public needs to support mosquito control programme: DHO Dr R Venkatesh

Mysuru, May 16:- Mysuru District Health Officer (DHO) Dr R Venkatesh has requested the public to cooperate with the Health Department in controlling mosquitoes.

He was speaking after flagging off a rally organised in connection with controlling dengue, chikungunya and other epidemics at the primary health centre at Hale Agrahara here on Thursday.

“Awareness is being created among the public on National Dengue Day. As monsoon is nearing, the menace of mosquitoes also grows. Don’t allow water to stagnate near your place and keep your premises clean. Neglecting this will spread epidemics. Mysuru will become malaria-free in 2020. Officials of all departments, public representatives, and the people have to cooperate with us,” he added.

Placards were carried with messages on epidemics. Students of various schools, ASHA volunteers and nursing students participated in the rally. (MR/GK)
