Punish the guilty in Chamarajanagar oxygen tragedy: Congress leader Vasu

District In-charge Minister ST Somashekar should reply to former DC Sindhuri’s charges on land mafia, says Vasu

Mysuru, June 8:- In connection with the Chamarajanagar oxygen tragedy, the name of the concerned official has gone viral. If it is true, the state government should order his/her arrest, said senior Congress leader and former MLA Vasu at a press conference held here on Tuesday (June 8).

He said, “A thorough probe should be ordered. The tragedy is a black mark in the history of Karnataka. Because of one person’s ego, many lives were lost. Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar should verify the audio and order the arrest of the guilty.”

Vasu said, “Proper compensation should be given to the families of all those who lost their lives in the tragedy. The district administration said 24 people died, but the Karnataka High Court-appointed committee said it was 36. The state government should come out with the right figure.”

In an indirect reference to former Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, Rohini Sindhuri, he said, “Before leaving the city, she said it was like her maternal home. She also said she was transferred because of the land mafia. Not only politicians from Mysuru, but politicians from other states have also made properties here. The District In-charge Minister S T Somashekar should reply to Sindhuri’s charges.”

Vasu added, “I know all the details. Sindhuri utilised Mysuru to meet selfish motives. Her complaint is nothing but an insult to all the politicians from Mysuru region.”  (MR/KS)
