Renowned Kannada cine director Puttanna Kanagal’s 83rd birth anniversary was observed at Apoorva auditorium by Parivarthanam Trust yesterday.
The programme named ‘Chitrabrahmana Nenapu’ was inaugurated by City Congress President T S Ravishankar by paying floral tributes to the photograph of the legendary director.
“Even though Puttanna was from Mysuru, his movies succeeded in appealing to the viewers from all parts of the state. He contributed great artists to Kannada film industry. Chitradurga fort has become a highly visited tourist spot after the shooting of Nagarahavu. It is the dream of every budding director to achieve the feat of Puttanna,” said Ravishankar.
“Chamundipuram circle was one of the favourite spots of Puttanna. We will ask the government to rename a road and a park of the city after Puttanna,” said corporator M V Ramaprasad.
D T Prakash, Vijay Kumar, Nataraj, Vinay Kanagal, Apoorva Jogi and others were present on the occasion.
