Quick, decisive steps needed to stop Covid-19 second wave: PM Modi to CMs

Prime News, National, Health, Disease, Vaccine, New Delhi, March 17:- Expressing concern over the surge in Covid-19 cases in states like Maharashtra and Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (March 17) said quick and decisive steps were needed to immediately stop the emerging second wave of Covid-19.

In a meeting with chief ministers of the country, PM Modi said 70 districts of the country reported a 150 percent increase in Covid-19 cases in the last few weeks.

“Such an increase is being seen in many districts that had protected themselves so far and were kind of safe-zones. We will have to immediately stop the emerging second wave of Covid-19 and for this, we will have to take quick and decisive steps,” PM Modi said at the meeting held via videoconference.

Modi also emphasised for being equally serious about ‘Test, Track and Treat ‘ as we have been doing it for the last one year. The Prime Minister appealed to the Chief Ministers to focus on creating micro containment zones to control the spread of the virus.

Modi’s last interaction with Chief Ministers was held in January this year before the launch of the world’s largest vaccination drive. (MR, Inputs: Agencies)
