Raghavendra emerges amateur champion
Raghavendra V emerged as state amateur chess champion here on Wednesday. In the final and decisive round, Raghavendra defeated Varma Shabdhik to top the table with eight points. Sameer Ghotane of Belgaum beat Sugyan Prakash Maharaj of Bengaluru for the second place. Raghavendra and Sameer will represent Karnataka in the National Amateur Championship.
There was four-way tie for the second place with 7.5 points, but Sameer secured the second place with a better tie-break score.
