Raid on Parameshwara’s properties politically-driven: Ex-MP Dhruvanarayan

Mysuru, October 11:- Former Member of Parliament R Dhruvanarayan has alleged that the raids on the educational institutions run by former deputy chief minister (DCM) Dr G Parameshwara are politically-driven.

He was speaking at a press meet held at Jaladarshini Guest House here on Friday.

“We are not against I-T raids but the motive behind it. After coming to power, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been carrying out politically-driven raids against political opponents. Father of Dr Parameshwara, Gangadharaiah was known as Bhishma of the education field. He started educational institutions 30-40 years ago. They are not running institutions for making money. Siddhartha Trust was started to give quality education to the rural children,” he added.

“The raid on opposition leaders is an attack on democracy. BJP leaders have been accused of ‘Operation Kamala’ but why no raid has been carried against them? Former minister Gali Janardhan Reddy spent crores of rupees for the wedding of his daughter during demonetisation period. Why I-T has not raided his house?” he questioned.

Responding to the ban on private TV media during the state Assembly session, he said that it is an attempt to curb the media freedom.

“The ideologies of democracy are being attacked. Prime Minister Narendra doesn’t attend press meets. He has been Prime Minister for nearly six years and he has not held a single press conference so far. Those who are good leaders and organisers in the opposition are being targeted. There is no respect for seniors in BJP,” he alleged.
