Mysuru, July 6:- The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) officers continued the seizure of illegal dyeing units in the city on Friday.
The KSPCB which identified eight illegal dyeing units here continued the ‘units’ seizure operation’ on Friday.
On Thursday, the officials carried out a raid and seized two dyeing units in the city. Similarly on Friday morning, illegal dyeing units at Rajivnagar were seized.
Tahsildar Ramesh Babu, KPCSB environment officer B M Prakash, health officer Dr Tabassum and police officers participated in the raid.
According to KSPCB officials, the dyeing units were run by people from Tamil Nadu with support of local people in the city and the raw materials for dyeing were brought from the neighbouring state. The units were set up in Mysuru owing to good availability of water, electricity and other resources.
“These illegal dyeing units were discharging effluents into underground drains which harm groundwater quality,” said KSPCB officials.-KK
