Rain trouble: Mysuru-Ooty road submerged in water

Mysuru, August 8:- With Wayanad in Kerala receiving heavy rains, the Kabini Reservoir is almost full. Around 75,000 cusecs water is being released almost every day from the reservoir and as a result, Kapila River is flowing in full spate so much that national highways are inundated.

Mysuru-Ooty Road is heavily water-logged but with no other alternative, vehicles are plying on this road despite being warned. The road near Mallana Moole Mutt in Nanjangud is also inundated. Two-wheelers and cars have been plying on this road though it is quite risky. Basaveshwara Temple is also submerged due to heavy rains. If more water is released, the Mutt and the temple face the danger of getting fully submerged.

The road connecting Mysuru-Suttur is also inundated. People using this road have been advised to travel via Tayuru. Lord Srikanteshwara Temple’s Mudikatte, Hejjige Bridge and Sopana Katte have all been marooned. (MR/KS)
