Mysuru, May 23:- “Karnataka Raitha Sangha has decided to protest against the amendment to APMC Act,” said its state president Badagalapura Nagendra at a press meet held at Jaladarshini Guest House here on Saturday.
“We have decided to stage a protest urging the government to solve the problems of farmers and labourers who are affected by lockdown. The state government is following Centre’s diktat to amend the APMC Act. Even Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and Law Minister JC Madhuswamy were not willing for this amendment. But they had to agree with the central government. Several state governments have said that they wouldn’t amend the Act. It is an attempt to privatise APMC,” he alleged.
“This will also affect lakhs of labourers, roadside vendors and small merchants. We will stage intense protests against privatisation after June 10,” he added.
