Mysuru, February 5:- “The central government has neglected the Akshara Dasoha employees in the Union interim budget. We are staging ‘Raj Bhavan chalo’ on February 7 to urge the state government to give look into our demands in the state budget to be presented on February 8,” said the district president of CITU, Manjula at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Tuesday.
“We have to work for 5-6 hours every day for Rs 2-3,000. Akshara Dasoha employees are preparing food for 53,43,501 students at 54,839 schools. But it is difficult for us to meet ends with very low salaries. We are staging this protest to make the state government understand our problems,” she added.
“As it would affect the students if all the employees take part in the protest, one of the employees will be at a school. This protest is also being organised to oppose handing over the mid-day meals project to Akshaya Patra,” said district secretary of CITU, Jayaram.
