Rakesh’s body to reach city tomorrow at 10:30 am

The body of Rakesh Siddaramaiah would be brought to the city on Monday morning. According to police sources, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family would start from Brussels Airport, Leopoldlaan, 1930 Zaventem, where global flights land and depart, at 7 pm (Indian Standard Time).

The flight will stop at Dubai for refuelling and reach the Kempegowda International Airport at around 4 am. Formal procedures when an international flight lands including body scan would be performed.

On Sunday, in Belgium, Rakesh’s body was embalmed and legal formalities were completed as per the law of that country.

Sources said that the body would be shifted to a smaller plane as the international carrier from Belgium cannot land on the small runway at the Mandakalli airport. The body is expected to reach the Mandakalli Airport at around 10:30 am and it will be brought to the Exhibition Grounds in an open vehicle.

PWD and District Incharge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, Minister for Cooperatives H S Mahadevaprasad inspect the Exhibition Grounds on Sunday. Rakesh Siddaramaiah’s body would be kept for public viewing at the grounds.

The body would be kept for people to pay their last respects till 1:30 and it will be taken on a procession via the 100 Feet Road, Ramaswamy Circle, and New Kantharaj Urs Road. The procession would make a brief stopover at CM Siddaramaiah’s house at Sharadadevinagar and would be taken to the CM’s farmhouse at T Katoor on the H D Kote Road via Ring Road for the funeral

The funeral ceremonies would be held between 3 pm and 4 pm and only close relatives and friends would be allowed inside the farmhouse, sources said.
