Mysuru district-level Karnataka Madhyapana Nisheda Andolana ( Alcohol De-addiction rally) led by Dr R Balasubramaniam, founder and president, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM,) will be organised in the city tomorrow.
In recent times, the consumption of alcohol has increased many folds, there is a big section of the society which is pushing for more and more sale of alcohol as this gets more income and taxes to the government coffers. What is conveniently forgotten is the effect of alcohol on people, particularly the poor.
With a move to address the concern and create awareness among people, the Karnataka Madhyapana Nisheda Andolana led by Dr R Balasubramaniam, SVYM, being a development organization, is working for the last three decades in developing human and social apital to build a resurgent India.
A protest march is being held tomorrow at 10:30 am from Mahatma Gandhi statue in front of Mysuru Courts, Chamarajapuram Mohalla, to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Karnataka government Mysuru district, Kuvempunagar.
This protest rally will be flagged off by P Shivashankar, CEO, Zilla Panchayat. Representatives from NGOs, CBOs, Self Help Group members and college students will be part of this march.
