As part of the Fire Safety Week, a rally was taken out in the city on Wednesday morning.
The rally was organised to create awareness among the public regarding the impact of fire accidents and to pay homage to the officers and staff of the fire brigade who lost their lives during fire extinguishing operations. To serve this purpose, the State Fire Safety Department observes the Fire Safety Week between April 14 and 20, every year.
The rally was organised with the tagline – ‘Fire extinguisher – your companion who saves lives and assets.’ MLA of Chamaraja constituency Vasu flagged off the rally at the Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple premises.
Speaking on the occasion, he said “Fire fighters save the lives of the people and their assets without even caring for their own lives. Whenever they receive complaints of a fire breakout, they rush to the spot within no time. By organising rallies and weeklong activities, awareness can be created among the public and avoid fire accidents,” the MLA added.
The rally which began at the Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, passed through Devaraja Urs Road, DC office, Maharaja Ground and culminated at the Saraswathipuram Fire Station.
As many as 400 participants, including students of various schools, staff of Apollo Hospital and fire brigade personnel took part in the procession. A mock operation of fire extinguishing was also performed after the rally. – KS
