In a bid to spread awareness among people on different types of cancer, over 100 students took out a rally in city on Wednesday.
The rally was organised by Lions Club Mysuru jointly with H V Rajeev Sneha Balaga to draw the attention of the public to the ill-effects of smoking, chewing tobacco and pan masala products.
The rally started at the Pramathi Hill View Academy School, Kuvempunagar went though Udayaravi road and in and around Kuvempunagar and concluded at the school premises, where free cancer check up camp for held for next 15 days.
The students carried placards that warned people of cancer from tobacco use and also informed of various types of the disease. They also distributed pamphlets contain messages the called for cancer prevention.
The rally was organised as awareness about various type of cancer remained very low among people despite it being one of the biggest causes of deaths in the country, said H V Rajeev, Founder Rajeev Sneha Balaga.
Most of the cancer patients seek treatment at the advanced stages because of the lack of awareness. Early detection is the key to cure most types of cancers. In a bid to help these cancer patients we have organised this camp, free consolation will be given to cancer patients for 15 days in presence of the expertise of Doctors
