The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to use planes to transport the newly printed currency notes of Rs 2,000 from its Mysuru unit.
As the newly launched notes of Rs 2,000 are being printed only in Mysuru and Salboni, West Bengal, it takes a lot of time to transport the notes from the two plants of the RBI to various parts of the country. So far, the RBI used to transport notes by road or train. But to make the transportation quicker, the RBI has decided to use plane to transport the notes.
The RBI has contacted the Airport Authority of India and sought permission to use the Mysuru airport to transport the notes and the procedure is done, and the notes will be supplied to all parts of the country aerially.
