Reading habit decreasing these days: CPK

Kannada Pusthaka Pradhikara, Chinthana Chithara Sahitya and Samskrutika Vedike had organised a special lecture on behalf of World Book Day at Pradhikara premises behind Kamakshi hospital, Kuvempunagar, on Sunday.

Renowned writer C P Krishnamurthy inaugurated the programme by selling books on a cart.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “With advent of the new media, people are not depending on books for knowledge as they did in the past. But the touch and feel culture of the books can never be felt on TV or any other digital media. World Book Day is an apt word as books make the readers universal human beings.”

“Books are of different kinds. One can find a genre of book that suits his mindset. Books spread knowledge, thinking ability and mindset to analyse radically.  Unfortunately, book readers are coming down in numbers,” he said.

Writer Dr R V S Sundaram, Ningaraju Chithannavar, administrative officer Mahadevaiah, R Sudhindra Kumar and others were present
