Recoveries outnumber new Covid-19 cases in Mysuru; tally spikes to 52,420

Mysuru, January 2:- Mysuru district on Friday (January 1) reported more recoveries than new Covid-19 cases as 26 new infections were registered compared to 73 new patients getting discharged, taking the tally of cumulative cases to 52,420 and recoveries from the coronavirus disease to 51,010.

Out of the 52,420 cases, 395 are active across the district and stable. Mysuru district reported no deaths on Friday and the death toll linked to Covid-19 stands at 1,015.

Mysuru  district authorities conducted a total of 6,36,994 tests so far with the aim of increasing it to 5,000 tests per day from the current 4,000 tests.

Of the 30 districts, six reported single digit new coronavirus cases, while two districts Ramanagara and Koppala had zero cases and the rest registered double digit cases except Bengaluru Urban which registered 464 new infections on Friday.

Only six deaths were recorded on Friday in the state. Bengaluru Urban recorded 4 fatalities, Chikkaballapura and Ramanagara district – one each. (NAV)
