Mysuru, April 2:- Sugama Sangeetha Academy Trust observed birth centenary of poet Gopalakrishna Adiga at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha in the city on Sunday.
Surgeon of Vathsalya Hospital, grandson of Gopalakrishna Adiga, Karthik Udupa inaugurated the programme.
“Understanding the poetries of Gopalakrishna Adiga is not easy. When you read, the poems give newer dimensions. There is no question of vulgar feels in Navya poetries. Gopalakrishna Adiga is still relevant in the present context. He cultivated Gandhian principles, which enabled him to write such poetries,” he opined.
“Adiga has a huge influence in Kannada literature. He gave a new dimension to Kannada literature. He can be identified as the founder of Navya genre of poetries,” said renowned writer Nagaraja Vasthare.
