Remembering Valmiki on his Jayanti

Mysuru, October 31:- Talking at Valmiki Jayanti at SBRR Mahajana First Grade College at Jayalakshmipuram here on Saturday (October 31), principal Dr B R Jayakumari said, “The saint-poet gave us the important values of a family through his epic Ramayana.”

The college management offered floral tributes to Valmiki to mark his Jayanti.

Dr Jayakumari said, “Valmiki Ramayana throws light on India’s social, political, cultural and scientific issues. Valmiki has beautifully described family values through his characters in the book. Ramayana is one of the greatest epics the world can ever see. Ramayana explains the importance of father, mother, guru (teacher) and guest.”

She said, “Ramayana has 24,000 shlokas. Valmiki is the guru for all the writers and poets. The epic speaks of important values of life which stand good even today. Valmiki’s books will continue to guide us for many centuries to come.” (MR/GK)
