Mysuru, November 9:- “Since the formation of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), no one from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community has been given the post of mayor. If it continues even this time, we will take a harsh decision for the next election of the MCC,” said the state president of Karnataka Rajya Nayakara Hitarakshana Vedike, Dyavappa Nayaka.
He was speaking at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Friday.
“Keeping the community out of opportunities is against the idea of Dr B R Ambedkar who drafted the Constitution of India. Though we have made several pleas for representation in MCC, it has been of no use. If the ST community doesn’t get the opportunity, we all will unite against it,” he added.
Prabhakar Hunsur, Channa Nayaka, Veerappa Nayaka, Siddaraju, Govinda Nayaka, Raghu Yadakola and Venkatesh Nayaka were present. (MR/KMR)
