Mysuru, September 21:- A retired college principal was stabbed to death at his residence in Niveditha Nagar in the city on Sunday (September 20). The deceased has been identified as Parashivamurthy (67).
At around 7.45 pm, two unidentified people came to Parashivamurthy’s house and knocked on the door. As soon as he opened the door, the attackers stabbed him before taking to their heels. The heavily bleeding senior citizen died a short while later.
On hearing his scream for help, the neighbours rushed to his help and alerted the police. He was alone when the incident took place.
According to CCTV camera footages, Parashivamurthy was attacked by two men. Fingerprint experts and a dog squad came to the spot for vital clues.
DCPs Dr A N Prakash Gowda, Geetha Prasanna, ACPs Purnachandra, Mariyappa, Inspectors Vijaykumar, Raju, PSI Bhavya and officials visited the spot. Police sources said old rivalry could be the reason behind the murder.
Parashivamurthy had worked as a lecturer in Kuvempunagar PU College, Chellakere and Nanjangud colleges and later retired as Principal in Hassan Government College. He was into a money-lending business and was embroiled in property disputes. (MR/KS)
