Rigging in voters’ list: Former minister Ramadas files writ petition in HC

Mysuru, November 22:- “A writ petition has been filed in the Karnataka High Court regarding the removal of names from voters’ list in all the four Assembly constituencies of Mysuru,” said former minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader S A Ramadas at a press meet held at a private hotel here on Wednesday.

“Names of voters have been removed from the voters’ list in Krishna Raja, Chamaraja, Narasimha Raja and Chamundeshwari Constituencies. People have filed complaints  at four police stations regarding the issue. But due to the pressure from the state government, no FIR (First Information Report) has been registered,” he alleged.

“According to the People’s Representation Act, the addition and deletion from the voters’ list can be done only when the family members apply with valid death certificate or else the officials will have to confirm with the neighbours. All these rules have been violated in this regard. We have explained this in our complaint to the State Election Commission on October 13. The issue has come to the notice of the district administration, but no action has been taken following which a writ petition was filed in the high court,” he added.

BJP city president Dr B H Manjunath, vice president Rajendra and corporator B V Manjunath were present.
