Mysruu, April 27:-The Railway Protection Force ( RPF), Mysuru Division, South Western Railway (SWR) conducted special drive in Mysuru Division under various sections of Railway Act and prosecuted transgenders and other offenders to ensure free and peaceful journey of passengers.
As a result, up to March 2018, 2767 offenders were apprehended under various sections of Railway Act and an amount of Rs 6.35 lakh was realised as fine and 19 transgenders were charged for indulging in extortion of money from passengers in trains and 979 vehicle drivers who were found creating obstructions for free flow of passengers by parking their vehicles in haphazard manner.
In order to provide safe and secured travel of passengers, especially women, children and senior citizens, Mysuru Division has commissioned a 24×7 Security Help Line at Security Control Room in Mysuru and the division has provided Security Help Line number 182 which is manned by RPF staff round the clock to render necessary security assistance to needy passengers.
“The passengers have been asked to make use of the Help Line during train journey on security related matters for speedy and timely action,” stated a press release from SWR. -(KK)
