Prime News, National, Farmers, Finance, New Delhi, December 3:- Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday (December 3) informed that Rs 1,60,000 crore has been transferred to the farmers in their bank accounts directly under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme so far.
In reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Tomar said that the amount has been transferred to the 11 crore 50 lakh eligible beneficiaries covered under the scheme. He said the purpose behind the implementation of the scheme is to enhance the income of farmers of the country.
The Agriculture Minister informed the House that as per data there are 12 crore 50 lakh farmers in the country out of which 11 crore 50 lakh are registered to get the benefits of the scheme.
Tomar added that the scheme is monitored at the State and Central levels to check any kind of malpractices. He also added that those farmers who want to get registered for this scheme can approach Kisan Corner at Kisan Portal or also do it through Common Service Centres by paying very marginal money.
