Mysuru, June 30:- “Projects will be introduced at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore to develop Karnataka tourism,” said Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Friday.
“Karnataka state will be made tourism-friendly. Around 30 tourism places including Badami, Mysuru, Shravanabelagola, Hampi, Aihole and Pattadakal will be developed. Project will be made to further develop Mysuru as a tourism-friendly city. Plans are made to make tourists to stay at least 2 – 3 days in the city. Open vehicle, circuit tourism package will be introduced,” the minister said.
“Project to develop Dasara Exhibition Grounds at a cost of Rs 143 crore has been mooted. This will help the Karnataka Exhibition Authority to function throughout the year. It will also generate employment along by boosting the businesses,” he added.
“Tourists are being looted in the name of tourism. It will be controlled in the coming days. We will organise meetings of officials of the department, tourist guides and hotel owners and ask them to behave with humility with tourists. Action will be taken against illegal Homestays in Kodagu District. Only 350 Homestays have taken permission. More than 1000 illegal homestays are there in Kodagu,” he informed.
“We have requested Water Resources Minister D K Shivakumar to get the musical fountains at Brindavan Gardens at KR Sagar repaired. We have informed the officials to keep ready first aid centre and an ambulance at KRS Reservoir premises,” he said.
“A Dasara authority will be formed. The district in-charge minister will take care of it. I am not an aspirant for this post. The coalition government will complete 5 years under leadership of H D Kumaraswamy,” Mahesh added.
