Mysuru, May 22:- “Rs 40,000 crore out of the special package of Rs 20 lakh crore announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be dedicated to MNREGA projects,” said Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K S Eshwarappa.
He was speaking after inaugurating the development of lake at Doddakerehundi village under MGNREGA scheme on Thursday.
“People seeking jobs in the state is beyond our expectation. 9.2 lakh people were in need of work on a single day. We will provide them job under MGNREGA scheme,” he said. He instructed the officials to provide jobs to needy local people and collected information regarding the timely payment of wages.
“Rural development minister himself has come here to collect information regarding the projects undertaken in MNREGA scheme. Labourers and public should directly bring this to the notice of the minister,” said District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar.
A young woman, an MCom graduate, was seen working as a daily wager at T Doddapura village in T Narasipura taluk. Touched by this, Eshwarappa asked her (Geetha) to meet him and promised to provide her with a job.
Mysuru-Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha, MLA Ashwin Kumar, former MLC Ramesh, Nanjundaswamy, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, Zilla Panchayat CEO Prashanth Kumar Mishra, ZP member Manjunath and others were present. (MR/KS)
