RTI activist Laxman backs teachers in their demand
RTI activist Laxman expressed his support to agitating teachers in Mysore South on Saturday. He pledged his support in solving their problems and they in turn urged Laxman to contest independently if he was denied a Congress ticket in the MLC election representing teachers’ constituency. Assuring their support, they demanded that he contest against the Congress if the need arises.
The turn of events unfolded when Laxman expressed to his supporters that the Chief Minister had refused to issue him a party ticket for contesting in the upcoming MLC elections. He said “though I worked in favour of the party, the CM rejected my application without stating a reason for its rejection,” he alleged.
“I have enrolled twenty thousand graduate voters by touring four districts including Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan. Besides, I have introduced 16,000 voters belonging to the SC, ST and minority community during the Assembly elections when the CM had contested on the ground of Ahinda vote strategy and my sincere work has benefitted the party to win in Mysuru. But now my application has been rejected,” he lamented.
Supporters of Laxman expressed their displeasure against the Congress for selecting Dr Manjunath in a biased manner ignoring Laxman for contesting from the graduates’ constituency.
