Prime News, National, Business, Mumbai, October 16:- The rupee trimmed initial gains but was still trading up by 19 paise to Rs 64.74 against the US currency on bouts of dollar selling by some banks and exporters amid higher domestic equities.
The rupee resumed higher by 18 paise at Rs 64.75 per dollar as against last Friday’s closing level of Rs 64.93 at the Interbank Forex Market.
The Indian unit hovered between Rs 64.64 and Rs 64.80 per dollar during morning deals. TT was quoting at RS 64.74 per dollar at 11.30 hours.
The dollar index was trading steady at Rs 93.14 against a basket of six currencies in early trade.
The BSE Sensex retreated from record high level but was trading higher by 88.50 points, or 0.27 per cent, at 32,521.19 as investors booked profits in RIL, HDFC Bank and SBI and Axis Bank.
