Mysuru Rural Police nabs chain snatchers’ gang; gold chains worth Rs 15 lakh recovered

Mysuru, August 14:- Mysuru Rural Police has arrested four members of a chain snatchers’ gang and recovered gold chains worth Rs 15 lakh.

The arrested have been identified as Devaramu, Ayub, Saddam and Mohammed Hafeez.

Apart from snatching gold chains from women in Mysuru, the accused have reportedly snatched gold chains in Mandya, Hassan and Shivamogga.

The police has seized two motorcycles used by the accused to snatch chains. They were using ‘stolen bikes’ to snatch chains.

Ayub used to snatch gold chains and pass it on to another gang member. The culprits were selling the chains to one Mohammed Hafeez, who was buying the chains knowingly aware that the chains were stolen.

Superintendent of Police Amit Singh had formed a special police team led by ASP Arunamshu Giri to nab the accused. (KS, NGB)
