Prime Sports, International (Johannesburg), December 2:- Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against England with a right abductor strain, South Africa officials said on Tuesday. Rabada played the first two T20Is of the ongoing three-match series against the visitors but did not feature in the series finale, which was a dead rubber as England clinched an unbeatable 2-0 lead.
Rabada is expected to take about three weeks to recover and Rabada has therefore been released from the squad and bio-secure environment that is in place for the England tour, according to Cricket South Africa.
South Africa want the pacer to take time away from the game and recover in time for the 2-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home which will be held from December 26 to January 7. South Africa will begin their 3-match ODI series against England from December 4.
South Africa, under Quinton de Kock, conceded a 2-0 lead in the ODI series. Their batting clicked in the first ODI but failed in the second as Eoin Morgan’s visitors comfortably outclassed the hosts who are looking to rebuild their squad in the lead up to next year’s T20 World Cup.
Kagiso Rabada was the Purple Cap winner at Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 as she shone at the death for Delhi Capitals, who made it to their maiden final. Rabada played 17 matches and picked up 30 wickets to finish on top of the bowling charts in the UAE. (MR, Inputs: Agencies)
