It is very sad to note that the inventor of modern E-mail, Raymond Tomlinson, an electrical engineer, is no more. His invention/creation of E-mail is a remarkable one. He initiated the use of @ symbol to connect the destination address with the user. It revolutionized the communication system. It enabled people to send any type of message, documents, photos or videos instantly to anywhere in the world. Thus it saved a lot of valuable time and reduced the processing time of the documents at various places, while handling the data. Although it ruined the letter writing habit to a large extent and affected hard copy based mailing system all over the world, one cannot think of its absence in the present day scenario. His contributions will never be forgotten as long as the communication system exists.
