Mysuru, January 14:- Sakkare Acchu preparing competition was organised by Arivu at Sharada Prasada Bhavan at Agrahara as a part of Sankranti festival on Tuesday.
“Sankranti is a festival showing the relationship between the cattle and the farmers. Women prepare various dishes to celebrate the Sankranti festival. Organising sakkare acchu making competition makes our youths know our tradition and culture. The contributions of the members of Arivu should be appreciated,” said BJP leader H V Rajeev.
“Makara Sankranti has remained a unique festival. Earlier, women used to prepare these sugar mould dolls at home and now it is available at shops. We should appreciate our youths for organising this event to protect our culture,” said social worker Raghuram Vajapayee. 32 participants took part in the competition.
Actress and director Roop Iyer, Prasanna Gowda of Janachetana trust, former corporator M D Parthasarathy, vice president of K R bank H V Bhaskar, Aswatha Narayana, Mike Chandru, and others were present. (MR/KS).
