Samarpana Trust pays tributes to Kuvempu and Pejawar seer

Mysuru, December 30:- Samarpana Trust of the city observed the birth anniversary of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu on Sunday.

Prior to the event, two minutes’ silence was observed to pay tributes to Vishwesha Theertha seer of Udupi Pejawar Mutt who passed away on Sunday. His contributions to society were also remembered.

Dr AD Srinivasan of Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering offered floral tributes to the image of Kuvempu.

“Kuvempu had considered that protecting and respecting the environment itself was a prayer to God. He won the first Jnanapeetha award for Kannada. If we read his works, the entire life of the Malenadu region comes in front of us. He was a great poet and worshipper of nature,” he said.

“Rashtrakavi Kuvempu spread the message of universal brotherhood in his Vishwamanava message. He explained that every child is a universal being and becomes an ordinary human being with hatred for others while growing,” said advocate SP Manjunath.

Treasurer of the trust Rajendra Prasad Honnalagere, secretary MS Balasubramanyam, social worker GP Harish and others were present. (MR/GK)
