Mysuru, May 20:- District court has announced its verdict on the illegal sand mafia in Lakshmana Teertha river near Hunsur.
Tractor driver Vinay and his assistant Sagar are the accused in the case. When the police carried out a raid for them doing sand mining without permission, they left behind the tractor and escaped. The police nabbed them and registered complaint against them and the tractor owner Abdul Lateef.
Judge PGM Patil, who heard the case imprisoned the tractor owner Abdul Lateef for 6 months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000. Vinay and Sagar are imprisoned for one year and Rs 25,000 fine. The tractor is said to be given to the custody of the government. (RV)
